6 Things New Moms Can Do While Baby Naps

Forget the housework, and stop answering emails. There is a lot more to life than the ‘important’ stuff, and you should take advantage of ‘me’ time whenever your little one is asleep. All of those chores and people who need you can wait.

When you have time for yourself, especially after having a new baby, it gives you the chance to refresh your mind and invigorate yourself so you can be the best person that you can be.

So, let those important things wait, and enjoy yourself with one of these five fun activities below when baby is napping.

Write in Your Journal

A new mom has so many wonderful emotions flowing inside of them. There’s no better way to capture those emotions than through journaling.

You can write until your heart is content, and about anything and everything that you would like. Writing in a journal gives you the chance to let loose and unwind with a clear mind.

Enjoy a Bubble Bath and a Book

Taking care of a new baby is a never-ending task. You are constantly feeding and changing diapers and looking at this precious human being that you have created.

While baby is asleep, prepare a warm bubble bath and grab a book that you’ve been wanting to read. Pour yourself a glass of wine (just one) and sit back and relax in your tub and enjoy your book.

The water will loosen your muscles while the book will help you escape for just a while. Of course, that glass of wine is also nice for a change!

Dress Up!

You might be thinking that dressing up is a waste of time if you aren’t going out anywhere, but that isn’t true.

When you take the time to put on clothes that you like, fix your hair and apply a little bit of makeup you will feel a lot better about yourself and will have more confidence and self-esteem.

So, when the baby is down for a nap head to the closet, get your abdominal binder and pick out an outfit then head to the bathroom to pamper yourself.  You will love how you feel!

Network & Socialize

It can get pretty lonely being in the house with baby all day (although you wouldn’t change it for anything in the world) and oftentimes you don’t get the chance to see and talk to all of your friends and family like you would enjoy. You probably miss out on a lot of the news and happenings in the world.

When your little bundle of joy us peacefully resting, visit Facebook and all of your other favorite networking sites to see what the rest of the world is up to and chat with all of your friends.

Enjoy your Hobby

What is it that you are passionate about? Perhaps you love to draw or paint. Maybe you love to write poetry or design clothing.

There are a million and one different things that you could enjoy. No matter what that is, when baby is asleep you have the chance to do what you love.

Take a Nap

Being a mother is physically and mentally exhausting. You’re probably lacking sleep since baby tends to wake throughout the night. If you are sleep deprived, you’re not at your best.

Studies prove that your decision-making abilities are affected as well as critical thinking skills. If you are tired and exhausted, use baby’s nap time for your own nap. It is amazing what just a few minutes of shut eye can do to help you feel better.

Rather than run yourself ragged and wear yourself down, listen to your body and the cues that it gives. When you are overdoing it, slow down and take a nap!
