Why? Because there are so many dangers out there lurking around your home. Even the seemingly harmless things can signal trouble for your little one.

Watch out for these Hidden Household Dangers

Detergent pods are one of those dangers

These recently introduced cleaning capsules contain detergent, and sometimes bleach and other cleaning ingredients, inside of a plastic pouch.

The idea is to toss this pouch into the wash, where it will burst and release the cleaner. The problem is, they’re square, colorful and look like they could be a lot of fun to an unsuspecting child. If you use these pods for laundry, make sure that you keep them out of the reach of your child.

Believe it or not, moth balls can also be a danger to your little one. These small white balls look like bubblegum or hard candy, so kids can easily put them into their mouth not realizing what they are actually ingesting.

Moth balls should be treated like any other cleaner or chemical in your home and kept high on a shelf where kids are unable to reach. Baby bumpers are one of the items promoted as a ‘must’ when buying the nursery for your baby. However, you are better off leaving this purchase behind.

Baby bumpers are certainly cute

They’re designed to match other nursery décor while protecting baby from bumps and bruises against his crib. However, these bumpers can also be very dangerous.

Always keep an eye out for anything that could pose danger to your little one. Look for colorful objects, things that look like toys or candy, and similar items. You can never be too careful when it comes to keeping your child safe.

Medications are also appealing to kids

Many times medications look like candy, and we all know that kids are crazy about candy. It cannot be said enough: make sure that your medications are all far out of reach of your children.

It is a good idea to keep them under lock and key, if this is possible. Kids can easily case grave damage by ingesting medications, so do not allow this potential hazard the opportunity to evolve in your life.

Mom’s purse is also a dangerous place that baby loves to investigate

It is imperative that you keep your purse in a place that is inaccessible to your toddler. There is just so much inside that could cause baby harm, not to mention cause mom a huge mess to clean.

From photographs to pain relievers to scissors, needles, etc., these items should not be within the reach of baby.

You should also use air fresheners sparingly in your home. While they smell wonderful and add a nice fragrance to the house, they also contain chemicals that could interfere with your little one’s breathing patterns.

Kids love to play with toys

They help them learn and have fun. It might come as a surprise to hear that toys can also be dangerous, even though they are made for kids. It is imperative that you look at the age range on a toy before you purchase it.

Not only is the toy listed with an age range to ensure the baby can grasp the toy, those numbers are also in place due to parts and small pieces inside of the box. Always purchase products that are intended for your child’s age range, and nothing older.

These are just some of the many different things in your house that could cause problems for your baby. Make sure they are well out of the reach of your little one.

But do not stop with these items. Always be on the lookout for anything that your curious little one might like but shouldn’t touch.

Don’t Stop with Baby Proofing

An assortment of baby proofing products are out there to help you protect your child from the dangers lurking around your house.

But those products will not protect you from the things that you do not consider a danger. Use the information above to better help you look out for those dangers and keep your little one safe and protected.
